Small Bedroom Refresh (Before Photos + Plans) | One Room Challenge Week 1
I’m sooooo excited to be a guest participant in this year’s One Room Challenge (ORC) Spring Edition hosted by Linda at Calling it Home.
I’ve been following ORC long before I started blogging and it’s always so inspiring to see the major room transformations unfold.
So to be participating as a guest this year is major for me.
If you’re hearing about ORC for the first time, it’s a home decorating challenge where 20 designers (and guest participants like me) have 6 weeks to complete a room of choice. This spring challenge will be for 8 weeks due to the pandemic.
And if you’re new here, welcome! I’m Nickesha, a Caribbean-based (Trinidad and Tobago to be exact!) DIY and Home Decor blogger.
For this challenge, I’ll be giving my bedroom a much needed refresh.
I’ve told my inner procrastinator – Nickesha, 8 weeks is more than enough time to finally complete your bedroom.
Confession: I’ve been planning to give my bedroom a makeover for years now and even detailed my (then) plan in this post last year.
While some elements of the bedroom refresh definitely are the same – hello DIY channel headboard – my style has changed a bit over the past year so I’ll be going with a new-ish design plan for the challenge.
I did a quick mock up with the headboard and snake plant. Love love love how the snake plant looks in the room.
You’ll see my full plans next week plus where I drew inspiration from.
I can’t wait to finally have one properly decorated room finished.
My room has changed over the years based on how I used it at the time.
The photos below are how the room is currently set up since I recently (temporarily) moved a desk into the space.
I’ve never shown all of it on the blog so I’m kinda nervous but still excited because the after is going to be ah-mazing! Trust me!
Ok enough rambling, let’s check out the before photos…

Definitely need this nook area to be more functional.
And here’s a closer sneak peek of the headboard. I’ve finished the panels so just need to add the frame to the back.

Gah, the list seems to have grown. But we can do this. #inhale #exhale
