Easy DIY Tablet Stand from IKEA Bookend
Today, I’m sharing a super quick and easy DIY project: a tablet stand made from an Ikea bookend.
I bought this pair of bookends in-store for US$4.99 and I hadn’t realised that they were 2 different colours until I opened it.
I thought of spray painting them to match (I have a thing for symmetry). But then I was struck with the idea of making a tablet stand with one of them instead. #ikeahack
I love how it turned out!
Annnd you can actually use it as a stand for your phone and other similar devices as well.

I only used 4 supplies for this easy DIY project: the bookend, a wine cork (a note about that below), spray paint and strong glue.
First I sprayed the cork with 2 light coats of copper spray paint. After letting the paint dry, I glued the cork to the bookend. I left it to set for 24 hours (well, I actually kinda forgot about it lol) and voila! Easy right?!
I’m decorating with copper this year so this was the first item to get the golden copper touch.
NB: While the wine cork works, next time I would use a heavier item to anchor the stand since it can occasionally be off-balance when the tablet is stored on the short end rather than the longer side. So if you have a stone or small paperweight, it would make the stand even sturdier.
If you’re giving it as a gift, why not pair it with this spray painted wooden box, which you can also make in a jiffy! That’s 2 desk accessories fo’ (almost) free and less than 30 minutes of your time. :p
I love quick and easy DIY projects like this tablet stand. I think it looks really chic.
What do you think?
This is a great idea! If I were you, though, I would fill it with beans or rice. This would be perfect for my granddaughter! Even though I bought her one stand, I think she could probably benefit from many more. She is always trying to stand her iPhone up. So off I go to the fabric store!
I attached Command hooks to my cabinet door to keep my tablet or phone out of the spill zone. All controls are still within reach, and so the tablet easily fits into the bottom edge. Now I quickly use my tablet while I am doing other work
Genius Ikea hack! Thanks for sharing!
